Jharkhand RTI Activist: An interesting case has come to light from Jharkhand. A social worker from Ramgarh district here spent Rs 1.49 lakh to get information from RTI. The 32-year-old activist has paid Rs 1.49 lakh as photocopying charges for 74,500 pages of documents and demanded that the papers be sent to him by courier or post in five sacks under the Right to Information (RTI) Act Go. However, the government has asked her to collect these sacks from the Gola block office, refusing which the social worker has demanded that either the documents be sent to her by post or her full amount be returned.

Giving information about this entire matter, an official said that Binu Kumar Mahato, a resident of Raipura village of Gola block, on May 6, Public Information Officer-cum By sending an RTI application to the BDO, detailed information was sought about how the amount given under the 14th and 15th Finance Commission from 2020 to 2023 was spent in Gola block.
More than 74 thousand pages of information
Gola’s BDO Santosh Kumar said that Mahto was earlier asked to go to different panchayat secretariats for information and when he refused When given, the block office collected the information and deposited it in 74,500 papers in five bags. He said that Mahato was asked to collect this secret paper from the block office, but he refused to do so. However, Mahato said that under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005, the information should be sent by post to the Public Information Officer. Ramgarh Deputy Development Commissioner Robin Topo said he would look into the matter.
At present, there is a lot of discussion about this matter of getting information through RTI in a unique way. This case of getting thousands of pages of information by spending lakhs of rupees is very interesting. As of now the matter is stuck and the social worker has asked for his money back, so the department can send the documents containing this information to him through post.
